NHSScotland is improving the way it uses information from GP patient records

From May 2017 we will improve the way we use information from GP patient records. These changes will help to plan and improve health and care services in Scotland.

SPIRE (Scottish Primary Care Information Resource) is a service that has been developed to help GPs, the NHS in Scotland and researchers to learn from information held at GP practices.

Nurses

Our team of highly trained nurses perform all routine nursing procedures and have developed a wide range of extended skills in the fields of asthma, diabetes, heart disease, blood pressure monitoring, well woman screening including cervical smears, contraceptive services and travel health. They also offer general lifestyle advice on diet, exercise and smoking cessation. In-house monitoring of certain medications is also carried out, e.g. Warfarin.
