NHSScotland is improving the way it uses information from GP patient records

From May 2017 we will improve the way we use information from GP patient records. These changes will help to plan and improve health and care services in Scotland.

SPIRE (Scottish Primary Care Information Resource) is a service that has been developed to help GPs, the NHS in Scotland and researchers to learn from information held at GP practices.

Pharmacists

Our practice-attached community pharmacists are Lynne Irvine and Nicole Aitken. Lynne and Nicole monitor the prescribing activity of the practice and provide a range of prescribing advice. We also have a Pharmacy Technician, Lee-Anne McKen, who assists Lynne and Nicole in their role. If you have any queries about your medication, please contact the surgery on 01224 586829 and the Pharmacists may be able to assist or advise you.

Community Midwives

If you require to book a Midwife appointment, please phone the surgery on 01224 586829. The Midwife currently operates clinics on a Monday afternoon and all day on Thursdays. If you are booking your first Midwife appointment, we normally advise this is booked when you are between 6-8 weeks pregnant.

The Community Midwife's can be reached at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital by phoning 01224 550616.

Our current Community Midwife is called Nicola Berry. Nicola will be able to assist you with any queries or concerns you have.

Community Nurses

The Community Nursing team are no longer based in Albyn Medical Practice. If you are currently under the care of the Community Nurses need to get in contact with them, please phone 01224 559140 who will direct you to the correct team. The Community Nurses now work in teams based on patient location and not per Practice. If you feel you require assistance from the Nurses in the form of a visit to your home, please phone the GP surgery on 01224 586829 who will organise a referral if felt to be appropriate.

Health Visitors

Our Health Visitors are highly skilled and experienced nurses with a specialist qualification and are involved in health promotion and illness prevention. Activities are primarily focussed on families with children under 5 years of age and include the provision of well baby clinics, parenting classes, childhood immunisation, advice and family support covering a wide range of issues and referral to other agencies as appropriate including social services.

Please note, the Health Visitor's now work by patient location rather than by Surgery. If you require to get in contact with your Health Visitor, please phone the referral line on 01224 559140 who will be able to direct your call appropriately. The Surgery no longer has in-house Health Visitors.
