Welcome to our self-help centre.  Here you will find both local health information and NHS content and a selection of tools for health checks.

Intrauterine Coils (Mirena ONLY)

PLEASE NOTE, THE INFORMATION BELOW IS ONLY RELEVANT FOR MIRENA COILS

There has been a change to the guidance surrounding Mirena coils when they are used for contraceptive purposes. Previously, Mirena's were deemed effective for 5 years however this has changed to 8 years. If you were 45 years of age or older when the Mirena was fitted, this will be effective for contraception until the age of 55.

We will be amending recall dates appropriately on our system. When you are nearing your removal/change date, the Practice will be in touch with you to organise this.

If you are using Mirena for HRT purposes, this will remain a 5-year recall.

If you have any questions on the above or want to discuss things further, please get in touch with the Practice. Please note, we now offer coil insertions and removals within the Practice. Should you require this service, please get in touch.

I am joining as a new patient and I was diagnosed with ADHD overseas - can I get my medication via the NHS?

We would be unable to issue your medications on the NHS. We would be happy to refer you to local NHS services. Sadly, there is a long waiting list for these services. You would need to source prescriptions and monitoring via a private provider until such a time that you are seen under the NHS clinic.
